Southport’s Gold Coast connection has continued with former Suns defender Ryan Davis one of seven new recruits at the club.
Davis, a NEAFL Team of the Year member in 2017, played 14 games for West Coast in 2008/09, and then a further 21 with Gold Coast in 2016/17.
The 28-year-old averaged 23 disposals and six marks as a rebounding defender, as well as polling 24 NEAFL MVP votes across his 14 matches this year.
General Manager – Football Operations, Jarrod Field, said Davis’ experience will be a vital addition to the Sharks in 2018.
“We’re delighted to welcome Ryan to the playing group. His leadership and versatility will be a great asset to the footy club,” he said.
Southport has also recruited local players Jayden Young (Labrador) and Xavier McMahon (Broadbeach) alongside four VFL and SANFL players.
Tom Ellard (Werribee), Jordan Taylor (South Adelaide), Noa Corbett (North Adelaide), and Jackson Gray (Williamstown) will also be donning the black and white next year.
These additions come after the club announced former St Kilda and Port Melbourne premiership player, Brodie Murdoch, last month.
