Four more faces for the Thunder

NT have signed on another four guys ahead of the 2013 NEAFL season.

The NT Thunder has added some more talent to its list as the NEAFL season draws near.

Two of the most recent signing announcements, Zac Stephenson and David Liston, come from Darwin club, Palmerston Magpies.

Stephenson has had plenty of success in his time at the Magpies, picking up premierships in the under-13 and under-15s.

A former state representative, Stephenson finished school at Melbourne Grammar in 2011, before returning to the Top End.

Stephenson is eagerly anticipating a chance to play for the Thunder.

“I hope to gain more experience with NT Thunder and develop my football on a personal level,” he said.

Liston is the other Magpies youngster to make the move to the Thunder this season.

Liston has spent the last five seasons playing with Norwood in the SANFL and debuted for Palmerston in the 2011/12 NTFL season.

The only non-Territorian joining the Thunder is Wodonga boy Tom Gleeson.

Gleeson relocated to Darwin for work, after collecting a 2011 premiership with Rdan in the Ballarat Football League.

It has not taken him long to experience success in the NT, playing in the Katherine Camels 2012 premiership side.

Rounding out the signings is 25 year-old Phillip Wills, coming from the Darwin Buffaloes.

Thunder coach Daniel Archer welcomed the addition of Wills to the Thunder side.

“I am looking forward to working with Phillip and developing him as player,” he said.

The new signings bring the Thunder list to 48 contracted players, with 79 per cent of those being local NT boys.

Archer said the club was very prous of its high proportion of local talent.

“It is great we can provide local talent the opportunity to return home and represent their Territory with NT Thunder,” he said.
