Munkara’s younger brother, Jack, 21, has also joined NT Thunder after impressing at NTFL level where he has established himself as a consistent performer.
NT Thunder coach, Andrew Hodges, said the Munkara brothers are a big coup for club.
“This is massive for our footy club, to have both Munkara brothers in a Thunder jumper for 2018,” he said.
“Both boys are the in-form players of the NTFL, and the Tiwi magic they will both bring to Thunder this year is important to the entertaining Territory brand of footy we want to play.
“Dion is arguably the best player in the NTFL at the minute and Jack has an uncanny ability to find the goals and will bring an exciting brand of Territory footy to our team.”
The signings come after a recent influx of new players to NT Thunder. Top AFL Draft prospect Domonic Grant – a member of the AFL Academy – is in line for his NEAFL debut after missing most of last year with injury.
Kaine Riley (Nightcliff) and Shaun Wilson (Nightcliff) have both been added to the club’s list in recent weeks.
