NEAFL clubs will take on a mix of opposition teams in the lead-up to the 2018 season with a number of QAFL and Ovens and Murray league clubs a part of this year’s practice match schedule.

The Sydney Swans and the GIANTS will kick off 2018 on March 9 at Blacktown, in a curtain raiser to the Swans and GIANTS’ AFL JLT Community Series match.

Defending premier Brisbane will play Aspley on March 10 at Graham Rd, with the Hornets also set to clash with Southport and Redland.

Reigning QAFL premier Palm Beach Currumbin, featuring the likes of  Grogan medallist and former Southport captain Jason Burge, NEAFL representative and another former Sharks captain Ben Headland, and NT Thunder best-and-fairest Jake Dignan, will battle the Gold Coast Suns on March 24.

Canberra Demons will once again face Albury and Lavington, while other QAFL clubs Wilston Grange, Labrador and Broadbeach are also in the mix, set to play Brisbane, Redland and Gold Coast respectively.

Sydney University will be involved in a rotating schedule against Sydney Swans and the GIANTS, kicking off against the Swans on March 17.
