Clubs with a Bye
Canberra has earned its third NEAFL Rising Star
nominee of the season with small forward Rhys Pollock the latest to impress in
their victory over NT Thunder.
Pollock played an influential role in the Demons’ 28-point victory, finishing
with 12 disposals, seven marks, four inside 50s and three goals to be named
among his side’s best players.
The Marist College junior made his NEAFL debut in 2017 and spent last year with
the GIANTS Academy, but returned to the Demons this year ready to play a key
role in Canberra's attack.
The 19-year-old reads the game well and generally will impact the scoreboard.
Since debuting, Pollock has played 32 games and kicked 34 goals playing for
both Canberra and the GIANTS.
So far in 2019, Pollock has been named in Canberra’s best three times from
seven matches, averaging 12 disposals, 1.5 goals and 4.7 score involvements per
game.
Pollock joins teammates Angus Baker and Connor Owen-Auburn as Canberra’s
nominees for the award.
The NEAFL Rising Star is awarded to the most promising young talent in the
NEAFL competition.
Nominees must be under the age of 21 and played less than 20 senior games
(excluding games as AFL club academy players) at the start of the 2019 season.
