Clubs with a Bye
Sydney University forward Harry Morrison has earned the Round 15 NEAFL Rising Star nomination following a four-goal effort against Gold Coast on Saturday.
Morrison was named among the Students’ best in the crucial 50-point victory which put the club back inside the top six.
The small forward is enjoying a breakout season for Sydney University since moving from Victoria in 2017 to study commerce at the University of Sydney.
Originally from Williamstown, Morrison won the club’s 2017 Rising Star Award before stepping up to NEAFL level last year, where he played eight games.
The 20-year-old has since taken his game to new heights, kicking 18 goals in 13 appearances this season, and has booted two or more goals in a match six times.
His four majors on Saturday was a career-high. So far in 2019, Morrison is averaging 14 disposals (52% contested), three marks and 1.5 goals per game.
Morrison is the third Sydney University player to be nominated for the award following midfielder Bailey Stewart and fellow forward Josh Stern.
The NEAFL Rising Star is awarded to the most promising young talent in the NEAFL competition.
Nominees must be under the age of 21 and played less than 20 senior games (excluding games as AFL club academy players) at the start of the 2019 season.
