2020 NEAFL Field Umpire Panel Announced

The NEAFL, in conjunction with AFL Queensland and AFL NSW/ACT, is pleased to announce the Field Umpire Panel for the 2020 Toyota NEAFL season.

This year sees the removal of the rookie umpire listing, with 20 umpires named for the upcoming season.

Former Grand Final umpire Cameron Barr makes a return to the list after a season away and Queenslander Ollie Pye receives a start after officiating the 2019 QAFL Grand Final.

For the first time, each umpire’s community umpiring group and junior club has been listed. This is a part of the AFL’s overall club engagement strategy to recognize the importance of our junior football clubs to the recruitment of umpires across Australia.

A clear majority of umpires in NSW/ACT and Queensland start umpiring while playing, and the NEAFL - together with the state bodies - is committed to recognising junior clubs for the work they have put into developing our match officials.

The 2020 NEAFL Umpire Panel will come together for a pre-season camp to be held at the Sydney Academy of Sport in Narrabeen from January 31 – February 2.

The NEAFL Boundary and Goal Umpire Panels will be announced in the coming weeks.
