Clubs with a Bye
The countdown to the 2020 Toyota NEAFL season is in full
swing with the release of the practice match schedule today.
Kicking off on Saturday, February 22, all nine NEAFL teams will be in action over four weeks with games spanning from Canberra, Sydney, Gold Coast and Brisbane.
The SUNS and Lions will be the first to hit the field later this month when they clash at Metricon Stadium at 12pm. Two weeks later, the GIANTS and Canberra kick off Week 2 with a 1pm battle at Tom Wills Oval, while up in Queensland Aspley takes on Gold Coast and Southport hosts Redland in their first hit-outs of the year.
Sydney and Sydney University will be in action for the first time on March 14, followed by Aspley and Redland going head-to-head at Graham Rd.
Saturday, March 21 will be a bumper weekend of football with five matches scheduled. All nine teams will feature, plus QAFL club Morningside who will take on reigning premier Brisbane on home turf.
The four AFL clubs will close out the practice matches with two local derbies set for March 28.
Round 1 of the 2020 Toyota NEAFL Premiership Season gets underway on April 4.
