GIANTS Academy member Tom Green has been awarded the
Round 9 NEAFL Rising Star nomination after an outstanding performance against
Gold Coast on Saturday.
The 18-year-old was in the thick of the action, collecting 28 disposals, seven
clearances and a goal in the GIANTS’ 43-point victory.
A rising talent for a number of years, Green is a strong inside midfielder who
made his NEAFL debut last season whilst also representing the Allies as an
under-age player.
The Canberra product, whose grandfather Michael played in four premierships for
Richmond and is in its team of the century, was a standout in the recent NAB
League campaign for the GIANTS.
A member of the NAB AFL Academy, Green will once again represent the Allies at
the upcoming NAB AFL Under-18 Championships as he continues to stake his claim
for AFL Draft selection.
Green joins fellow GIANTS Academy member James Peatling as a nominee for the
award.
The NEAFL Rising Star is awarded to the most promising young talent in the
NEAFL competition.
Nominees must be under the age of 21 and played less than 20 senior games
(excluding games as AFL club academy players) at the start of the 2019 season.
